(Press Release) NEW YORK, NY – Luxury jeweler Gumuchian announced that it has been awarded the Made in NY certification.
Fueled by an initiative by Mayor Bill de Blasio, the certificate highlights manufacturers who have shown a commitment to local production and innovation. Gumuchian is only the second jewelry brand to receive the certification.
Gumuchian, founded by Anita Gumuchian and now managed by her daughters Myriam and Patricia, continues a family legacy in the jewelry industry that dates back over 100 years. The company’s collections, including the “B” Collection, the Carousel Collection and the new Secret Garden Collection, are manufactured in full in its midtown Manhattan offices. Patricia, the lead designer, is always creating. She brings two-dimensional concepts to life and alongside her sister, Myriam, former president of the prominent 24KT Club, they use jewelry to embody the vivacity, beauty and strength of women. They create timeless and feminine designs that are meant to be loved and passed on and with an office managed by women the “Designed by Women for Women” mantra emerged.
The Made in NY seal empowers local manufacturers and designers to connect with each other and consumers. It also encourages creativity in several forms, including partnerships in community development. Gumuchian has been a crusader for the declining bee populations for many years. A portion of their proceeds from the “B” Collection are donated to City Growers, a Brooklyn-based organization educating urban youth about sustainable environmental practices.
