I Have a Love /Hate Relationship With These Days

Each year we come to this point where the last ten days were a blur, and the next two weeks are about to turn into a whirlwind. I have a love / hate relationship with these days. I love that we run our stores like a finely tuned machine, humming along at a pace that generates great customer experiences and sales of exciting, and important merchandise.

Each year we get a little better at preparing in advance. Marketing calendars completed earlier, trunk show dates set, promotions in place, and the decisions have been made on catering menus.

We make sales that in some cases we’ve waited all year long to complete. Wishlist compiled, notes taken, phone calls made, e-mails done and invitations sent. Holiday music resonates in the air as we spend long days waiting for our appointments and walk-ins to arrive hoping they don’t overlap so that we can give each person the personal and professional service that they deserve.

The part I hate is really about the amount of need that I see everyday in the news. So many families in need. Forget for a moment about people that don’t have enough to even consider any type of holiday celebration. I am thinking about those that lack the resources to feed their families, or to keep them warm.

I love that our company lives and works by a set of core values that states, as an associate of Tappers we each have a commitment to the community that we live and work in to give back and make our community a better place to live. This year was Tappers 19th Annual Coat Drive, with a goal of collecting over 2000 coats, we not only exceeded our goal but raised over $7,500.00 to purchase new hats, gloves, coats, and this year for the first time warm blankets.

The song lyric that said “love will find a way” is so true. Love does find it’s way into the hearts of Tappers associates each year help to overcome the discouragement of those that might be left hard pressed to find the energy to feel the holiday spirit. I am proud of the people I work with and honored to be part of a family and company that does more then talk the talk, we walk the walk.

Happy Holidays!
