I Was Going to Be the Next Big Thing…

I WAS BILLED AS the first major gem find of this century when I was unveiled at the Vegas shows in 2002 and given a trade name that reflects both my Central Asian origins and ocean-like colors. I am a diopside, and while one of my strongest features is my pistachio green color, I possess none of the chrome of my famous Russian relative. The next big thing? It hasn’t turned out that way, but I still have a good story to tell.
