TAP by Todd Pownell

Todd Pownell first debuted the Cleveland-based jewelry collection he created with his wife, Debra Rosen, to the industry-at-large at the JA Show in 2014. Jewelryphiles were buzzing about the asymmetrical power and richness of the line, and it was no surprise to anyone when Cindy Edelstein presented him with the Mort Abelson New Designer of the Year Award.

It seems appropriate, then, that four years later, TAP by Todd Pownell has earned INSTORE’s award that honors the former curator of JA’s New Designer Gallery.

“We both have educations and backgrounds in jewelry that were very different, but have been very complimentary in creating our aesthetic,” says Rosen. “Romanticism primarily inspires our designs. We combine themes of order, chaos, light, dark, dusk, night and the vastness of landscape. The poetic unexpected juxtapositions of gems in settings and texture are all signature of our pieces.”

What’s next for Cleveland’s dynamic design duo? “We are currently exploring a series of oscillating fine line drawings in gold with diamonds in unique settings,” says Rosen. “So, you can expect the unexpected from us at TAP by Todd Pownell!”
