Jewelers For Children Announces $100,000 Store Makeover Contest

(Press Release) NEW YORK — The Jewelers for Children has announced the Super Store Makeover Contest, where jewelers will participate in a fund-raising contest for the industry charitable organization, with the jeweler who gets the most donations winning a store makeover valued at more than $100,000.

All jewelers will need to do is raise funds for JFC between August 15, and December 31, 2016. Interested jewelers will create their own fundraising progress page at firstgiving.com/jfcevent/super-store-makeover, where customer donations are received and competition results are tallied.

The contest’s winner will be determined by a point system. Each time a retailer recruits a donor, they will get 10 points. Retailers will also get one additional point for every $500 raised.

“We wanted a system that was fair and equitable to all independent retailers, regardless of their size,” said Debra Puzio, Vice President of Special Programs for JFC. “Everyone knows it takes the same amount of effort to recruit a donor, whether they give $10,000 or $100. By having a point system, we make sure that the work required to recruit a donor is rewarded, as well as the amount raised being recognized.”

The contest was the brainchild of JFC board member Eric Zuckerman of Pac Team Group. Pac Team is the title sponsor for the contest along with other leading companies in the industry who are donating products and services, including Grid/3 International, ARMS USA, Majilite & Partners, StarLuxe Branding, Lansa Americas, Rio Grande, Imtech Graphics, Global Logistics, Jaboa Enterprises, and the CSI Group. INSTORE Magazine has signed on as the exclusive media sponsor for the competition.

The contest is open to any independent retailer who would like a chance to win a store makeover. The contest winner will be announced in January of 2017, and the makeover will begin on a date negotiated between the winner and the sponsors.

You can find examples of how jewelers raise funds for JFC on the organization’s website at www.jewelersforchildren.org. Jewelers can use one of these programs, or customize their own.

You can use one of these programs, or create your own. Simply sign up and create your fundraising page and get started!

The winner will be announced in January 2017. Actual makeover will be completed in 2017 at a time mutually agreed upon by the vendors and the winning retailer.

Jewelers for Children was founded in 1999 by the U.S. jewelry industry with the mission of helping children in need. Since its inception, JFC has donated more than $51 million to programs benefiting children whose lives have been affected by illness, abuse or neglect through charity partners St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital®, Make-A-Wish® America, the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation and the National CASA Association. JFC also provides support to Make-A-Wish® International, and the Santa-America Fund. This nationwide success is due to the continuing generosity of jewelry trade organizations, jewelry and watch manufacturing companies, jewelry retail stores, individual jewelry professionals, and jewelry consumers.
