Jewelry Store Finds Fantastic Niche, Plans Major Expansion

It will add 3,000 square feet.

A planned expansion will give Burdeen’s Jewelry in Buffalo Grove, IL, the space it needs for its burgeoning collection of pre-owned watches and jewelry, the Daily Herald reports.

The store will grow by 3,000 square feet, bringing its total space to 9,100 square feet. The expansion is set for completion by November.

Store owner Matthew Burdeen has worked to ensure the store stands out in the niche of pre-owned watches, the Daily Herald reports. Josh Nigut, general manager of the business, says the department is the largest in the country.

He says: “We have 400 watches on display at any given time, and we’re shooting for 800 to 900 watches.”

The business dates to 1980, when it was founded by Burdeen’s parents, Dennis and Sandy Burdeen.
