Judge the Jewels: Do Dove Cameron and Fiancé’s His and Hers Engagement Rings Predict a Shift in Bridal Trends?

The sighting: Actress and singer Dove Cameron just announced her engagement to Måneskin’s Damiano David on Instagram with a post that revealed the rings…and yes, it’s plural! Both Cameron and David were sporting new rings custom made to commemorate their engagement. Let’s take a look!

The jewels: Dove Cameron and Damiano David’s engagement rings were custom made by Monaco-based jeweler Alessandro Bernini of Bernini High Jewelry.

Both rings are in 18K rose gold and each features a beautiful square diamond – I’ve seen sources calling them cushion cuts, but they look like Asscher cuts to me.

Cameron’s ring is an elaborate design with split shank details, an open gallery, and a halo all lushly adorned with chunky diamond pavé.

David’s ring is sleek and minimalist, a subdued bombe style setting with the diamond flush-set in the center. The interior is engraved with “The Best Part of Being Alive.”

The trends: The biggest and most interesting trend here is the double proposal!

When you look at the style of the rings, David’s is actually much more on-trend than Cameron’s. His is sleek and minimalist, while hers is almost fussy, a split-shank pavé halo style that would have been more on-trend in 2006 than 2026.

The center stones being unusual diamond cuts is right on trend, although we haven’t seen a celebrity Asscher engagement ring for quite a while. The rose gold is a surprise too: that’s not a metal that’s trending much at all at the current moment, let alone in bridal.

What do we think? Today’s couples are increasingly comfortable with ignoring the engagement ring rules that don’t suit them, and I absolutely love the idea that both halves of a couple deserve new jewelry. I think it’s fantastic that they did this, and I also adore how each ring seems to reflect the wearer’s individual preferences.

I love when a celebrity engagement ring surprises me. I’m especially fascinated with the way that Cameron’s ring defies trends – are engagement ring haloes due for a comeback? It feels too soon to me, but maybe this is an early indicator that haloes are on their way back in the next couple of years.

I don’t know what to make of the rose gold. Is it a fluke or a trend indicator? Only time will tell.

Judgement: 100/10 for a genuinely interesting pair of celebrity engagement rings.

Honoring a Legacy: How Smith & Son Jewelers Exceeded Every Goal With Wilkerson

When Andrew Smith decided to close the Springfield, Massachusetts location of Smith & Son Jewelers, the decision came down to family. His father was retiring after 72 years in the business, and Andrew wanted to spend more time with his children and soon-to-arrive grandchildren. For this fourth-generation jeweler whose great-grandfather founded the company in 1918, closing the 107-year-old Springfield location required the right partner. Smith chose Wilkerson, and the experience exceeded expectations from start to finish. "Everything they told me was 100% true," Smith says. "The ease and use of all their tools was wonderful." The consultants' knowledge and expertise proved invaluable. Smith and his father set their own financial goal, but Wilkerson proposed three more ambitious targets. "We thought we would never make it," Smith explains. "We were dead wrong. We hit our first goal, second goal and third goal. It was amazing." Smith's recommendation is emphatic: "I would never be able to do what they did by myself."
