The sighting: Musical artist and actress Jennifer Lopez chose a glamorous backless gown with a plunging neckline for 67th Annual Grammy Awards Pre-Grammy Gala. But we couldn’t focus on anything except that boulder of a diamond hanging from her neck. Let’s discuss!

The jewels: Lopez’s diamond necklace was by Harry Kotlar. According to the Daily Mail, the necklace featured 182 total carats of diamonds, including a cushion-cut diamond of staggering size, and was valued at $25 million when Celine Dion wore it in in the 2018 music video for her song “Ashes.”

I really enjoyed the design of this Harry Kotlar necklace: Rather than taking the form of a traditional rivière with a pedant attached, it had an asymmetrical Y-shape that felt more like a modified lariat. It was a cool way to add some visual interest to the upper part of the design without taking any focus away from that incredible cushion cut.

Lopez accessorized the major statement necklace with a pair of cascading diamond earrings by Etho Maria, as well as some diamond rings that were difficult to see clearly in the photos.

The trends: This was days before Sabrina Carpenter wore a white gold Chopard necklace with 50-carat diamond on the Grammys red carpet, so I think we might have a mini-trend of white gold and diamond necklaces with enormous center stones in progress! It takes three to make a trend, so keep an eye out for another example.

What do we think? This is over the top diva glamour at its finest! If I ever met Lopez in person and she wasn’t wearing something like this, I would be disappointed.

It brings me great joy when celebrities pair earrings with major statement necklaces (there are too many naked lobes on red carpets for my liking) and Lopez absolutely did that here. The Etho Maria earrings and the major Harry Kotlar necklace provided a glorious contrast to the A-lister’s revealing gown and pulled-back hair.

Judgement: 18/10 for Jenny from the block’s giant rock.

Honoring a Legacy: How Smith & Son Jewelers Exceeded Every Goal With Wilkerson

When Andrew Smith decided to close the Springfield, Massachusetts location of Smith & Son Jewelers, the decision came down to family. His father was retiring after 72 years in the business, and Andrew wanted to spend more time with his children and soon-to-arrive grandchildren. For this fourth-generation jeweler whose great-grandfather founded the company in 1918, closing the 107-year-old Springfield location required the right partner. Smith chose Wilkerson, and the experience exceeded expectations from start to finish. "Everything they told me was 100% true," Smith says. "The ease and use of all their tools was wonderful." The consultants' knowledge and expertise proved invaluable. Smith and his father set their own financial goal, but Wilkerson proposed three more ambitious targets. "We thought we would never make it," Smith explains. "We were dead wrong. We hit our first goal, second goal and third goal. It was amazing." Smith's recommendation is emphatic: "I would never be able to do what they did by myself."
