The sighting: Musical artist Tyla turned heads at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards in a chic Chanel look accessorized with tons of jewelry. It was a memorable high fashion moment with a strong 1990’s vibe that screamed luxury…but who made the jewels?
The jewels: Tyla is a Pandora partner and her edgy, 90’s runway-inspired VMAs look was all Pandora! And I do mean all of it: the chain belt with the trailing medallion, the chunky bracelets, the rings, the anklet, and every single charm on that spectacular mass of necklaces.
To quote Pandora’s Instagram, the singer was “in head-to-toe Pandora Talisman,” including the following styles:
- Crossing Arrows Oversized Medallion Charm (764084C01)
- Swallow Medallion Charm (764082C01)
- Lion Medallion Charm (763974C01)
- Small-Link Chain Necklace (369685C00)
- Small-Link Chain Bracelet (569662C00)
The trends: The 1990’s style revival continues and this is a fantastic example of how compelling the look can be on red carpets. This outfit is also a powerful argument for waist chains and body jewelry, as well as maximalism in general and the multi-medallion neckmess style of charm layering specifically.
What do we think? I’ve rarely found myself more surprised by a jewelry placement: I was shocked when I found out this was Pandora. I was expecting it to be vintage Chanel, an assorted curation of vintage pieces, or a variety of high-end independent designers.
I didn’t have an inkling that Pandora’s offerings could create a look like this. It’s a huge departure from the brand’s usual feel, which is usually much more suburban shopping mall than high fashion VMAs red carpet.
The layering of meaningful, medallion-style charms on chunky gold chains has been an it-girl staple the last few years and a quick glance at Pandora’s Instagram shows that they’re making a serious swing for that part of the market with their new Talisman collection.
Whether or not you like the specific look or jewelry involved, you have to admit that this is an earth-shattering branding moment from Pandora’s PR department. Someone deserves a raise.
Judgement: 12/10 for a really cool look and a fascinating branding moment.
