Andie Weinman, who founded and built CBG into the powerhouse it is today, recently decided to begin stepping back from day-to-day operations and will continue with the group as a consultant. As part of this transition, Joe Murphy, the Chief Executive Officer, will continue leading the organization.
Tratner brings over 20 years of diverse jewelry industry experience spanning manufacturing, retail, media, and trade show leadership. He joins CBG to lead its strategic direction, member engagement, and program development, working closely with Murphy and Weinman during this pivotal moment in the group’s evolution.
“I am honored to join the Continental Buying Group as President and to partner with Joe in leading this exceptional community,” said Tratner. “CBG represents the very best of what our industry can be; collaborative, forward-thinking, and built on relationships. I look forward to building on that legacy, expanding the group’s offerings, and helping to deliver even more value to our members.”
Tratner began his jewelry career at a family-owned manufacturing company in New York’s Diamond District, eventually moving into national roles that touched every segment of the supply chain. He most recently served as Group Show Director for the JA New York Shows, where he revitalized the brand and expanded engagement among exhibitors and retailers.

Prior to that, he served as General Manager and Vice President of Sarine North America, where he orchestrated the acquisition of the Gemological Certification & Assurance Lab (GCAL), forming GCAL by Sarine. Earlier roles include Director of Membership & Sales at Jewelers of America, where he led strategic retail initiatives and oversaw the acquisition of National Jeweler, later becoming its Publisher. He also served as Director of Global Business Development at the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), helping launch the Diamond Origin Program and furthering transparency in the diamond supply chain.
“Bringing Matt on board as President is a strategic move that positions CBG for long-term success,” said Joe Murphy. “He and I share a clear vision for the future, one that emphasizes innovation, member value, and strong industry relationships. I look forward to working closely with Matt as we lead CBG into its next chapter.”
