(PRESS RELEASE) NEW YORK — Verragio, the leading New York City-based designer of handcrafted diamond engagement rings and wedding rings unlike any other, announces the appointment of Sophia Macris as the creative director of the Fine Jewelry Division. Following the brand’s continued success and expansion, the launch of Verragio’s new fine jewelry division is fueled by the growth of the brand’s remarkable group senior leaders and executives.
Joining the talented team of the leading bridal jewelry designer, Macris comes to the Verragio family with an impressive background and years of experience in the luxury and fine jewelry spaces. Macris graduated magna cum laude from Harvard University and began her career at Saks Fifth Avenue, before transitioning to Barneys New York, working in buying and planning. Most recently, Macris had a twelve-year tenure at Roberto Coin, Inc. where she served as the Senior Vice President of Sales. Her many skills and responsibilities included managing national sales, building a dynamic training program, spearheading special projects, including a licensing deal with Disney, and developing client and consumer-facing communications during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I’m looking forward to bringing Verragio style to more moments in people’s lives,” said Sophia Macris, creative director of Fine Jewelry at Verragio. “We want to be there not just for their engagement or wedding day, but every day and I see Verragio’s new jewelry collections as an opportunity for shoppers to mark special moments with timeless pieces that express their style. I can’t wait to learn from the Verragio team and work hand-in-hand with them to create jewelry that is unlike any other.”
As Creative Director, Macris brings a wealth of cross-industry experience that will be crucial as the brand looks ahead to its scaled expansion into the fashion and fine jewelry space. Macris will work parallel with Barry Verragio, the CEO and Designer of Verragio, which will allow the Verragio brand the ability to continue to focus on their leading bridal collections, while Macris spearheads the fine jewelry division, leaning into the design, merchandising, marketing, training, and more.
“At Verragio, our focus is to craft jewelry as unique as the person who wears it with an elevated level of quality and skilled artistry for special occasions and everyday moments,” said Barry Verragio, CEO and designer of Verragio. “We’re thrilled to welcome Sophia into the Verragio family as we expand the reach of our brand. It’s the perfect marriage as Verragio dives deeper into the world of fine jewelry, and I know that Sophia will help entice clients, both existing and new, to keep them coming back for more. As Sophia settles into her new role in the coming months, we also look forward to sharing additional, exciting brand and product news from Verragio.”
