Video: Jeweler’s $500,000 Snow Promotion Claim Denied

An Idaho jeweler that held a “snow promotion” had hoped to refund $500,000 in holiday sales — but so far, its claims have been denied, KREM-TV reports.

Clark’s Diamond Jewelers in Couer D’Alene, ID, promised that if it snowed 3 inches or more on Jan. 11, it would refund purchases made between Nov. 22 and Dec. 31. Those purchases amounted to about $500,000, according to the store.

But Weather Command, a verification firm that works with the jeweler’s insurer, says it only snowed 2.3 inches on the date in question. And the claim has been denied by the insurance company, according to KREM.

The jewelry store on Wednesday wrote on Facebook: “Clark’s Diamond Jewelers wants you to know that we believe those who made purchases during the promotion should be entitled to refunds from the insurance company. Like many of you, we were hard at work in the early hours shoveling the newly fallen snow and excited about the prospect of making those refunds happen, and we will still fight to do so.”
