Gem Quiz

While I Am Sometimes Known As Landscape Quartz, My Actual Gemstone Name Means “Sludge” In Portuguese

NOTING THAT I have inclusions is a bit like stating that Jimmy Durante had a big nose. My internal formations define me, although it is a tad disappointing that these same bits of organic beauty inspired a name that stems from the Portuguese for “sludge” or “silt” or even worse (depending on the vulgarity of the person you ask). Luckily for me, the world seems to becoming enamored with rough, natural characters who tell a story, and few stones do that better than I do; when faceted I offer a view back several million years. It is why some have started calling me landscape quartz, or garden quartz or even scenic quartz.

Who am I?
