$1.84M Diamond Stolen from International Jewelry Show

A $1.84 million diamond was stolen from a jewelry show in Yokohama, Japan, The Associated Press reports.

The 50-carat gem went missing shortly after 5 p.m. Thursday, police said. It’s believed to have been taken during the final hour of the exhibit that day.

The case in which the diamond had been kept was found unlocked.

The diamond was the only item reported stolen. It was being exhibited by a firm based in Saitama, Japan.

Police are reviewing security video as they investigate the case. No arrests have been made, AP reports.

The three-day show was held at the Pacifico Yokohama facility.
