After 125+ Years, Florida’s Alvin Magnon Jewelers to Close Its Doors

Alvin Magnon Jewelers, a Florida store whose roots date to 1890, will soon close its doors.

The store is “one of Tampa’s oldest continuing businesses,” according to the Tampa Bay Times.

Winnie Magnon Marvel, whose grandfather, Alvin Magnon, purchased the store in the 1930s, is holding a liquidation sale, the newspaper reports.

She tells the newspaper the decision to close wasn’t easy.

“Retail has changed a lot and trying to adapt to that is challenging,” she says.
