American-Made Mechanical Movement from Upstart Watchmaker Fittingly Debuts on July 4th

Production of $2,500 watch is limited to 50 pieces.

The 29-year-old head of Weiss Watch Co., Cameron Weiss, appropriately chose the Fourth of July to debut his company’s $2,500 American Issue Field Watch, a “handsome, retro-looking, vaguely military-inspired 42mm wristwatch heavy on the patriotic motifs,” the Los Angeles Times writes. For the exception of the hairsprings and jewel bearings, the article explains, the watch is crafted entirely out of American-made parts in Weiss’ 2,100-square-foot studio in Torrance, CA. Production of the watch is being limited to 50 pieces, one for each U.S. state.
