California Jeweler Mulls Relocation After Stick-’Em-Up, Parking Fiasco

Two other retailers have already left the new shopping plaza.

Manya Jewelers in Canoga Park, CA lost $135,000 in merchandise after the store was plundered by two burglars who brandished a gun, the Los Angeles Daily News reports. The article says the robbery wasn’t part of a trend, though the incident does add to the troubles the open-air plaza has had since the ribbon was cut in September. Two retail tenants have already left the mall, and the landlord recently implemented paid parking without notifying merchants or visitors, who also had trouble operating the pay stations. Those events have the jewelry shop’s owner, Harut Nazarian, considering whether or not to break his lease and relocate.
