Demi Moore Looks Swanlike in Cartier Jewels at Premiere of FX’s ‘Feud: Capote vs. The Swans’

BEFORE I EVEN get to the jewelry, lets talk about the Balmain gown that Demi Moore wore to the premiere of FX’s Feud: Capote vs. The Swans. She kept on theme, as many actresses seem to be doing these days at premieres with gowns that evoke their character or the essence of the film or series. Moore did this by wearing a black and white gown with feathers and a swan motif on the front. And all I can say is wow: It was a crowd pleaser and stood out among the coordinated all-black-and-white-clad A-listers who are in the Ryan Murphy series. But we will get to that later.

Moore, who portrays socialite and radio actress Ann Woodward in the series, also donned jewelry by Cartier, all in black and white – onyx, diamonds and 18K white gold. The jewelry, including classic Cartier panther pieces in earrings and rings and others with a decidedly Art Deco feeling of Cartier in the 1920s, complemented her look to perfection.

Now let’ s dish about the limited series. Based on the true-to-life book Capote’s Women, by Laurence Leamer, it features Ryan Murphy as executive producer, Jon Robin Baitz as writer and Gus Van Sant as director of six episodes. The show examines how Truman Capote befriended and ultimately betrayed the high-society women whom he called his Swans after an excerpt from his unfinished novel was published in Esquire magazine in 1975. It gave away the secrets of the upper echelon of Manhattan, of which he originally was eager to be a part. The series also recounts his rise to fame and his downward spiral into alcoholism and drug abuse. But I will let you watch and see what you think of the series, while I swoon over the jewelry and fashion.

After watching the pilot and second episode, I was left wanting to see more of the costume design, which was well-chosen for the characters, from Mainbocher gowns to juicy Verdura and other renowned designer jewelry.

The Swans, each dressed to perfection in the series, include a roster of famous actresses: Naomi Watts as Babe Paley, Diane Lane as Slim Keith, Calista Flockhart as Lee Radziwill, Chloë Sevigny as C.Z. Guest and, of course, Moore.

But back to Moore at the premiere. She was the essence of why Capote originally dubbed the socialites “swans,” showing off her beauty and perfectly capturing the timeframe of the series.
