MARCH 13, CELEBRITIES were wearing different versions of a trend that we have been seeing on runways and red carpets and in designer studios. They wore this trend toward fabric- and textile-inspired jewelry on both sides of the Atlantic. It was a big red carpet day with the British Academy Film Awards in the U.K. and the Critics’ Choice Awards simultaneously in the U.S. and U.K. (with stars going from BAFTA to Critics’ Choice with an outfit change). The trend was also seen at the Screen Actors Guild Awards.
The type of jewelry we are talking about looks like it has been spun into bib and choker necklaces, tied into tassel necklaces and woven into earrings. We first saw a bib-inspired openwork necklace from Cartier on Jada Pinkett Smith at the SAG Awards. The celebrities kept the look coming. Jasmine Savoy Brown wore a delicate mesh bib necklace at the Critics’ Choice Awards while across the pond, Sienna Miller draped a Boucheron tassel necklace that graced her decolletage. Lucy Boynton also added some tactile style in Boucheron tassel earrings, while Emma Watson’s Tatiana Verstraeten earrings had the movement of a flowing gown.
Perhaps the most riveting look came at the Critics’ Choice Awards as Halle Berry received the SeeHer Award. Dressed in a white bustier and black pantsuit, she shone in a pair of stunning 27.56-carat emerald earrings with movement and swing by Samer Halimeh.
