(Press Release) BASEL, SWITZERLAND – As jewelry artisans create unique watches and other jewelry, it’s increasingly important to verify the authenticity and characteristics of gemstones adorning these pieces. To help ensure confidence, the Gemological Institute of America is offering convenient access to its colored gem identification and country-of-origin reports during the Baselworld 2017 Watch and Jewellery Show.
Institute representatives will also be available March 23-30 during show hours at Hall 2, W23 to answer questions related to GIA education, research, laboratory services and more.
GIA colored stone reports describe the type of gemstone, whether it is natural or synthetic, and if there are any detectable treatments. All reports include the gemstone cutting style, shape, weight, measurement, color and a photograph of the stone. Loose or mounted gemstones may be submitted.
Show Service Laboratory
The GIA Show Service Laboratory gives show attendees convenient access to gem identification and country-of-origin services for colored stones. GIA will accept gemstones at Hall 3, A37 from Thursday, March 23, through Wednesday, March 29, from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Thursday, March 30, from 9:30 a.m. to noon. Temporary reports will print on site, with permanent reports sent after the show. For more information, email coloredstones@gia.edu.
