(PRESS RELEASE) MUMBAI – The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) has entered into a cooperation agreement with UBM Asia Ltd., the largest trade show organizer in Asia, to organize the India Pavilion at the 2018 editions of the June and September Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fairs.
Wolfram Diener, senior vice president of UBM Asia Ltd., added, “Through our partnership with GJEPC, we are looking forward to welcoming India’s industry-leading diamond, colored gemstone and fine jewelry companies to our Hong Kong fairs this year.”

A UBM Asia company, UBM India hosts more than 25 large-scale exhibitions and 40 conferences across the country every year. Its jewelry trade fairs in Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad and Kolkata are acknowledged as indispensable and powerful sourcing platforms in the region.
GJEPC is the apex body of the gemstone and jewelry industry in India, representing more than 6,500 exporters. UBM Asia is known for its rich portfolio of shows and events, including the Jewellery & Gem Fairs in Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad and Kolkata. These fairs are being driven by UBM India.
Commenting on the cooperation agreement, GJEPC Chairman Pramod Agarwal said, “Hong Kong is the second-largest export market for the Indian gemstone and jewellery industry. The India Pavilion will feature a total of 50+ exhibitors in the Gemstones (Hall 5E) and Diamonds (Hall 3BDCE) sections of the June Fair. The pavilion will span a total area of around 600 square meters.
For the September Fair, the India Pavilion will be hosting a total of 110+ exhibitors in the Gemstones (Hall 10), Diamonds (Hall 11) and Fine Jewellery (Hall 3E) sections. The pavilion will occupy a total area of around 1,500 square meters.
From April 2017 to January 2018, the value of India’s gemstone and jewelry exports exceeded US$33.903 billion. Of this sum, US$10.933 billion worth of exports went to Hong Kong. This was led by cut and polished diamonds (almost US$7.977 billion), followed by gold jewelry (US$782.13 million) and colored gemstones (US$160.23 million).
GJEPC has played a significant role in boosting and promoting exports through various initiatives. The council organises the mega India International Jewellery Show (IIJS), SIGNATURE and India Pavilions at major trade fairs around the world. GJEPC also focuses on Buyer-Seller Meet programmes.
