When Jerry Bern, owner of Marshall Pierce & Co. in Chicago, learned that Ivanka Trump, daughter of Donald Trump, had a jewelry line, he knew he wanted to carry it in his store.
In a new article, the Chicago Sun-Times explains how he made it happen. In 2010 Marshall Pierce began carrying Ivanka Trump Fine Jewelry, and it is currently the only independent store in the city to do so, according to the newspaper.
The upshot: Bern kept at it until he made it happen. A little luck didn’t hurt, either.
“He wrote to her office, went to visit her representatives in New York and by coincidence, he says, bumped into her once as she walked through O’Hare International Airport,” according to the newspaper.
Bern says the line is a hit with his store’s clientele.
Ivanka Trump has visited the store in the past. But Bern doesn’t expect to see her any time soon, even when she’s in town to raise funds for her father’s presidential campaign.
He figures she’ll be too busy.
Ivanka Trump Fine Jewelry debuted in 2007 and is currently sold in 60 boutiques and luxury department stores, including Neiman Marcus and Harvey Nichols, according to the brand’s website.
