Jeweler Accused of Stealing Rings from Clients

He faces grand theft charges.

A jeweler in California is being accused of stealing bridal pieces from several customers, the Orange County Register reports.

Daniel Cervantes, 27, “faces seven counts of grand theft but has yet to tell police what he did with the jewelry,” according to the newspaper, which cited an Irvine Police Department spokeswoman.

At least four alleged victims have been identified. They had asked Cervantes to perform jobs such as resizing or polishing the rings.

One of the pieces was an heirloom engagement ring dating to 1892.

When it was time to return the jewelry, Cervantes allegedly kept delaying and making excuses, and never gave it back, KTLA-TV reports.

According to police, Cervantes is believed to have operated under a variety of business names, including Cervantes Jewelers and Diamonds are Forever.

The news station reports that the value of the stolen rings totals more than $40,000.
