A jeweler in Houston, TX, fired on three armed men who tried to rob his store, killing one and injuring another, police said.
The robbery suspects allegedly entered Your Jeweler on Tuesday afternoon and demanded jewelry and money, KTRK-TV reports. Police say they struck the owner with a handgun.
“He managed to recover a pistol and began firing at the robbers,” said Senior Deputy Thomas Gilliland of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. “They, in exchange, fired back at him.”
The suspects fled, with one ending up at a local hospital with gunshot wounds. The body of another was found on a street about 6 miles away from the jewelry store. A third suspect is still at large.
Gilliland said that when the men came to rob the store, the owner had “the right to defend himself.”
