(Press Release) Jewelers of Louisiana has announced its 72nd Annual Convention to be held in New Orleans, Louisiana on Aug. 19-20 at the New Orleans Downtown Marriott at the Convention Center.
Known for its educational sessions and extensive networking opportunities, this year’s convention presents selected topics and presenters guaranteed to offer motivating, thought provoking talks on a wide variety of topics.
This year’s speakers include Martin Rapaport, chairman of the Rapaport Group and founder of the Rapaport Diamond Report; Katherine Bodoh, CEO of the American Gem Society; and Terry Sisco, founder of Exsellerate.
Chad Berg, president of Jewelers of Louisiana, said, “I feel fortunate that so many amazing speakers have already
confirmed their attendance for this year’s convention. Last year’s convention saw record attendance with over 130
attendees and we hope to increase that number this year.”
In addition, the convention is designated as a JA Idea Exchange event by Jewelers of America. The JA Idea
Exchange is a popular roundtable discussion led by Susan Posnock, JA director of public affairs and education, providing attendees an opportunity to share concerns and brainstorm solutions on key topics impacting day-to-day industry business.
Tammy Kidder, vice president of Jewelers of Louisiana, said, “We have some amazing programming scheduled for the bench jewelers as well. Louisiana jewelers will not want to miss this amazing convention!”
Given the excellent educational and networking opportunities, the convention is a high-value event with a low registration fee of $100 that includes all educational sessions, three meals, hospitality suite access and plenty of networking opportunities. Additionally, the organization negotiated a favorable room rate for conference attendees of $119 per night at the New Orleans Marriot Convention Center.
The Lifetime Achievement and Jewelers of Louisiana Awards will be presented at a banquet Saturday, Aug. 19, at world-famous Arnaud’s and is included in the registration fee.
The annual Jewelry Design Contest will be held at the convention. Winners will advance to Jewelers of America’s national retailer design competition – The CASE Awards – in New York.
