Jewelry Designer donates $12,000 to the Frontline Families Fund

(PRESS RELEASE) MINNEAPOLIS, MN — Jewelry designer Karin Jacobson announced the donation of $12,000 to the Frontline Families Fund. She raised the funds by donating 100% of the proceeds of sales from her Mended Heart Pendant — a piece that she designed specifically for this fundraiser.

This is the second fundraising event of this kind that Karin has done (the first raised money for the ACLU in honor of Ruth Bader Ginsburg), but this fundraiser got a significant boost when world-renowned epidemiologist Dr. Michael Osterholm, head of CIDRAP and the visionary who started the Frontline Families Fund, highlighted the fundraiser on his Osterholm Update podcast.

Of the project, Karin says, “I hope that the pendants will be a reminder to all who wear them of the importance of frontline healthcare workers – of their hard work and sacrifices over the past year. And at the same time, I am so happy to be able to donate the proceeds of the sales to the Frontline Families Fund. There is nothing that can make up for these families’ profound loss, but ensuring better access resources and scholarships can at least keep a tragic situation from getting so much worse.”

Of the pendant, Dr. Osterholm says, “Karin has designed what I would call … the jewelry piece of the pandemic. And you must see this heart, it is simply remarkable.”

And addressing Karin directly on the podcast, he stated, “…as an act of kindness, I can’t begin to explain how much this means to us at CIDRAP. I know many, many individuals on this podcast today are going to also feel the very same when they see your piece of work.”
