Plenty of people in the jewelry business go the extra mile for their profession. But Bruce Audley of Beverly Hills Jewellers Mfg. is a special case.
He recently traded in his 1999 Acura TL, which had clocked 1 million kilometers, CTV reports.
The high odometer reading is because of his work as a traveling sales agent. Audley says he put all the kilometers on the car driving around Alberta, Canada.
That’s a lot of drive time — about a year-and-a-half in total. The car still has its original engine. But it’s on its fourth timing belt and third transmission, and it has some dents and rust.
Audley, 66, says the car is not sentimental for him — it’s just a tool for work.
West Side Acura in Edmonton celebrated the trade-in with an on-site event, according to Acura Connected, an independent blog. He got a new Acura RLX.
The dealership threw in four snow tires for Audley’s new ride, according to CTV. Interestingly, the odometer never actually hit 1,000,000. It went to 999,999 and stopped — an outcome that Audley described as “anticlimactic.”
