Judge the Jewels: Is Taylor Swift’s Opal Pendant a Nod to Her Football Beau?

The sighting: Taylor Swift was recently spotted wearing a dainty gold neck stack with an opal charm. Is it just pretty, or does it mean more?

The jewels: Taylor Swift is wearing the Foundrae Sister Hook chain with a pear-shaped bezel-set opal charm. The Sister Hook chain comes in 18K yellow gold, with optional diamond accents, and starts at $3,815 on Foundrae’s website.

The opal pendant is also by Foundrae. It appears to be the new Forever & Always a Pair pendant, which features an opal in 18K yellow gold and starts at $950 on Foundrae’s website.

Swift is wearing another gold necklace with a charm that I haven’t been able to identify, as well as two pairs of earrings, identified by StarStyle as Foundrae’s Miniature Heart Pave Symbol – Love Petite Chubby Ear Hoop earrings, listed online for $3,340, and Alessandra Camilla’s Blue Rain Diamond Cuffs Dop, listed online for €4,980.

The trends: Foundrae has been a celeb favorite jewelry brand for several years now and the enthusiasm shows no sign of waning. For good reason – their designs are gorgeous, meaningful, and versatile, as well as very luxurious. Variously textured gold chains, necklaces with charm clasps in the front, pear-shaped gemstones and huggie earrings with charms are all very trendy styles that Taylor Swift is rocking here.

It’s also worth recognizing that if Taylor Swift picked up a rejected elementary school art project out of the trash and wore it on a chain, that would probably become trendy too. (Cheap beaded bracelets as tour souvenirs, anyone?) This is one celebrity whose sphere of influence is so powerful that her impact pretty much cannot be overstated.

What do we think? The internet tells me that people are excited about this look because opal is the birthstone of Travis Kelce, Swift’s new sweetie pie. Taylor Swift loves secret symbolism and that’s pretty much what Foundrae is all about, too. They’re a match made in heaven.

I don’t know if she’s really wearing this opal pendant for her large football lovebug, but either way, it’s a lovely piece and it looks great in this delicate neck stack.

Judgement: 13/10 for a pretty layering moment that may or may not have deeper significance.
