The sighting: Madonna recently launched her Celebration Tour, in honor of the Queen of Pop’s spectacular four decades of music. One of her opening night looks was especially sparkly and we’re going to take a look.
The jewels: Madonna is wearing layers and layers of House of Emmanuele necklaces. The specific style is the La Croix Crystal Rosary, which appears to be sold out online.
House of Emmanuele specializes in opulent demi-fine styles, usually using gold-plated metals with crystal stones. The La Croix Crystal Rosary isn’t currently listed on their website, but the La Croix Crystal Cross earrings are still available for $425.
The trends: Using demi-fine jewels to achieve extreme maximalism is a trend that I really enjoy. This look is so delightfully high octane, and the demi-fine materials mean that Madonna can dance her heart out every night of the tour without having to worry about damaging tens of thousands of dollars’ worth of precious jewelry.
Crosses are always popular with certain demographics, but there does seem to have been an uptick recently in statement crosses as part of dramatic celebrity looks.
What do we think? This look is so fun on Madonna – it feels true to her brand but still fresh and fun. She’s a longtime House of Emmanuele fan and it’s not hard to see why.
Jewelry with religious symbols is tricky to discuss as a trend, because no iconography can have universal appeal – it always excludes large sections of the population from being able to participate. But for people who like crosses, these House of Emmanuele rosaries are super fun and sparkly! I love love love that Madonna chose to mix in some colorful styles instead of choosing plain white crystal only.
