THE PAPARAZZI WAS out during the filming of Emily in Paris on the streets of the City of Lights and also in Rome, offering some insight into the fashion and jewelry that Lily Collins (Emily Cooper) will be wearing at least in a few scenes of Season 5. From the looks of the first sightings, it seems that Emily has finally settled into a more Parisian style. The outrageous and vibrant prints and mismatched outfits that Marilyn Fitoussi, costume designer for the show, chose for Collin’s carefree and insouciant character in the first four seasons reveal an evolution of Emily. She has settled in and done some growing along the way in her approach to fashion, jewelry and relationships. And while part of the fun of the show is seeing the more wild outfits that both Emily and Mindy (Ashley Park) have worn, the new season seems set up to feature more elegant looks with some vintage couture or high-fashion and timeless jewelry. But we still have yet to see how it unfolds. And watching the show will always be a delightful escape.
In the meantime, what we have seen so far is Emily, while in Paris is dressed in vivid red three-piece suit, with what seems to be a long leather coat (not shown in this photo). It is sophisticated yet bold in color. She wears what appears to be silver sculptural hoops and a gutsy silver ring, both of which are timeless pieces. When I suss out whose they are, I will be sure to report as we do every season.

In another shot she is wearing a fitted navy Victorian Beckham dress with a yellow gold rectangular link chain bracelet (so popular today in contemporary and vintage ’70s styles). This is another more classic look for Emily with her new bobbed haircut.
Above, the shot takes place back in Italy and she is wearing Aurélie Bidermann malachite drop earrings and a strapless floral print dress, evoking more of a high-fashion look than some of the zanier outfits of season’s past.

As an aside, let’s talk about the multiple nods to Audrey Hepburn’s characters in different films.
In Season 4, we saw two nods to Audrey Hepburn characters — one in Charade and the other two in Roman Holiday after she arrives in Rome. Throughout the series we also saw references to Funny Face, and we just have to wait to see if there will be more. Perhaps Sabrina or Breakfast at Tiffany’s? What are your thoughts?
