Macy’s Worker Stabbed in Jewelry Robbery; Suspect Shot by Police

A retail worker was stabbed in a jewelry robbery at a Macy’s store in Gwinnett County, GA, police said.

Police shot the suspect “when he abandoned his car in the middle of an intersection and took off,” WAGA-TV reports.

The suspect was identified as Jose Reyes-Serrato, 27, and the victim was identified as David Walker, 55. Both were taken to a hospital and expected to survive, according to WAGA.

According to the Jewelers’ Security Alliance, the sales associate “tried to stop a suspect who was smashing jewelry cases and taking jewelry.”

“The suspect took out a knife and critically stabbed the sales associate several times, causing a collapsed lung among other injuries,” JSA reports.

The suspect “attempted to flee the scene in a pickup, but the pickup was rammed by a police patrol car,” according to JSA.

“When the suspect then tried to flee on foot carrying a large kitchen knife, an officer shot the suspect.”
