How Long Have You Been At This Address?
We opened this gallery on Magazine Street two and a half years ago, as this area of New Orleans was growing into a shopping destination for both locals and tourists. I was initially focused on another space when by happenstance I ran into a friend who was restoring this site.”
What’s The History Of The Building?
“The building was built in 1883 and was originally a grocery store. The recent restoration won the Louisiana Preservation Alliance Award in 1999.”
What Features Make This Store Stand Out?
“A special feature of this gallery is that it is a corner location and has a large amount of natural light — the 14 foot ceilings also give it an open and airy feeling. Tropical plants both inside and outside make it into a cottage garden. The cabinetry is also outstanding; there’s a group of beautifully hand-crafted Louisiana antiques found at auction in the Cajun country. The antique pieces are in harmony with the modern cabinets which are hand-made by skilled craftsmen.”
