Paris Jewellers Launches Charitable Necklace for Asian Heritage Month

(PRESS RELEASE) EDMONTON, AB — Paris Jewellers, a Canadian-Vietnamese sister-owned company, will be releasing the Asian Heritage Lotus Necklace on May 4th to help fight anti-Asian racism and hate by donating 100% of the net proceeds to the Asian Solidarity Fund and Stop AAPI Hate. The handcrafted solid 10kt yellow gold necklace ($349CAD/ $275USD) features a genuine, ethically-sourced diamond set in a lotus, the national flower of Vietnam which is known to be a symbol of optimism.

For each necklace sold, 100% of the net proceeds will be donated and split equally between the Canadian Asian Solidarity Fund via canadahelps and Stop AAPI Hate (U.S.). The Fund aims to support Asian Canadians, celebrate the contributions of the Asian community, and stand up against intolerance, prejudice and injustice. Stop AAPI Hate is on a mission to advance equity, justice and power by dismantling systemic racism and building a multiracial movement to end anti-AAPI hate.

Having experienced racism at many points throughout their lives: while growing up (learning English and using a Vietnamese-English dictionary to translate) and building a business, Paris Jewellers co-owners didn’t share their origin story out of fear. In the past years, the sisters have learned that sharing their story encourages understanding and helps educate in the fight against racism. It is our sincere hope that through our collective efforts of sharing stories, raising awareness and funds, we can continue to build a more inclusive world where we see each other as equals and celebrate our differences.

“We dreamt up this necklace in honor of our mom and her journey as a young mother who emigrated from Vietnam with her family,” says Chau Lui, co-owner, Paris Jewellers. “The lotus flower is our mom’s favorite flower (and Vietnam’s national flower). This necklace honors her courage to make her own way in the world. The lotus is known as a symbol of optimism for the future as it grows in muddy waters and overcomes darkness to rise above the surface and bloom with remarkable beauty. Our family has so much hope and optimism for the future.”

The limited-edition Asian Heritage Lotus Necklace will launch online here for North American customers on May 4th at 9am MDT.
