Suspected Jewelry Thief Hides in JCPenney Ceiling, Falls Through

Police in Springfield, IL, say a man fell through the ceiling at a JCPenney store, and he’s suspected of stealing jewelry.

An alarm went off at the store a little before 6 a.m., WICS-TV reports. Police discovered that a door was damaged, and a man was seen moving around in the building.

The man ran from officers and tried to hide in the ceiling, police said. He then fell through and was taken to the hospital with injuries, WICS reports.

He was found with stolen jewelry, along with burglary tools, according to police.

There’s no word on what charges the man, age 37, might face.
