Thieves Took Up to $10M in Jewelry After Tying Up Manager in His Home, Police Say

Burglars may have made off with $5 million to $10 million in jewelry from Icebox Diamonds & Watches in Atlanta earlier this month after tying up the store manager and his wife in their home, authorities say.

Two gunmen wearing ski masks entered the home and demanded codes to the store safes, WSB-TV reports.

The couple were not injured, although the gunmen threatened to kill them, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution has reported. But media reports say they were bound with zip ties and duct tape.

Two men broke into the Buckhead store at about 11:30 p.m. and spent about two hours there, police said. They emptied two safes, taking jewelry and watches.

Initial reports said the stolen goods were were hundreds of thousands of dollars, not the millions that police are now reporting.

Cash and jewelry were also stolen from the jeweler’s home, according to the Journal-Constitution.

Police have not yet made any arrests in the case.
