Three International Designers Take Top Honors at Contemporary Jewelry Fair

Their creations are very open to interpretation.

The New York Times highlighted the three designs which won the top award at Schmuck, the contemporary jewelry fair that was recently held in Munich. “An ice-like blue brooch, another pin inspired by cold fusion and a pendant meant to look a lot like a mobile phone” were created by Jelizaveta Suska, 26, a Latvian who lives in Sweden; Stefano Marchetti, 45, of Italy; and Moniek Schrijer, 32, of New Zealand. “The winners all combine unusual materials to create something entirely new. … What’s interesting about all this jewelry is that it’s not only about craft — it’s open to interpretation,” Ursula Ilse-Neuman, one of the four jury members, told the NYT.
