$2M in Goods Recovered from Jewelry Store — Police Say It Was Stolen

Police in Texas have seized about $2 million in jewelry that they believe was stolen.

The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office recovered the goods from a store in San Antonio called Joyeria Internacional, the San Antonio Express-News reports.

Deputies had spent time undercover at the jewelry store, according to the article. The investigation began after a half-dozen victims, all of whom had hired the same house cleaner, reported that they were missing jewelry.

The housekeeper has not been arrested, according to the Express-News.

The jewelry was found in a safe at the store, which is located on the city’s South Side. In all, more than 11,000 items were recovered.

“It’s believed people at the store were knowingly buying stolen jewelry,” said James Keith, spokesman for the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.

Police say they have suspects and continue to investigate. They have not yet made any arrests.
