‘Aurora Green’ Diamond Fetches $16.8 Million, Breaks Two World Records

Price nearly doubled the previous record for the sale of a green diamond.

Record-breaking auction sales are continuing unabated as the 5.03-carat “Aurora Green” diamond set two world records this week after Christie’s sold it for $16.8 million ($3.3 million per carat), Forbes writes. The article says that the diamond – “with VS2 clarity mounted on a gold ring surrounded by circular-cut pink diamonds” – was purchased by Hong Kong-based Chow Tai Fook Jewellry. The previous world record for the sale of a green diamond was $8.6 million at $1.5 million per carat.
