Baselworld 2016 Preview: New Luxury Watch Designs on the Horizon

Swiss brands look to reverse declining export numbers with technology, aesthetics.

Luxury watch makers are preparing for the upcoming Baselworld 2016 fair, set for March 17-24 in Switzerland, where they’ll unveil new designs in an effort to stymie steadily declining export numbers, Bloomberg writes. The article cites several factors that the decline can be attributed to, including exchange rate fluctuations and general global market uncertainty. But “regardless of whether the brands will find a sweet spot in terms of price … what we’ve seen so far from sneak previews is promising in terms of technology and aesthetics.” Luxury editor Chris Rovzar highlights five watch designs that should catch buyers’ attention at the show.
