Bernie Madoff’s Diamond and Gold Jewelry Hits the Auction Block

Among the six items for sale is a gold piece in the shape of a paperclip.

The U.S. Marshals service is offering up to the highest bidder six pieces of jewelry that once belonged to infamous Ponzi schemer Bernie Madoff, ABC News reports. A diamond bracelet, a necklace, a pendant, two gold watches and another gold piece in the shape of a paperclip are the items that are now up for auction here on txauction.com, according to the article. The website says the auction will end on Feb. 16.

And in case you’re wondering where Madoff – whose $64 billion scheme is the largest financial crime in American history – is these days, he’s serving a 150-year sentence in a North Carolina federal prison, ABC said in a separate report. It cites his lawyer, who said that Madoff is “doing as well as can be expected” in spite of a heart issue and the fact that his wife stopped coming to see him years ago.
