California’s Diamond Foundry Manufactures Ethical Diamonds

The company was founded in 2015 by solar energy industry veterans.

California-based Diamond Foundry is putting out 2,000 karats per month in artificial diamonds and hopes to ship billions of dollars’ worth of jewelry-quality gems in the coming years, according to Fast Co.Exist. The article says the company produces diamonds as large as karats, rough, or 2.7 karats polished, and is negotiating with a major high-retailer to sell its products. To create its diamonds, the company starts with a slice of natural, mined diamond and grows it in an 8,000-degree plasma reactor. Diamond Foundry was launched in 2015 by veterans of the solar power industry, and its products are meant to appeal to ethical-minded shoppers seeking conflict-free diamonds.
