FACETS 2017 Set for September in Sri Lanka

(Press Release) The Sri Lanka Gem & Jewelry Association announced the approach of the 27th edition of FACETS, Sri Lanka’s foremost annual international gem and jewelry show.

Established in 1991 with the patronage of the state and private sectors, the show has become the pinnacle event in the industry calendar. To be held at the BMICH from Aug. 31 to Sept. 3, FACETS Sri Lanka is an impressive showcase of Sri Lanka’s topmost resource. The objective of the exhibition is to strengthen and promote developments in the industry with special focus on its primary resource, ceylon sapphires as well as to boost the sale of gemstones and jewelry products to overseas markets, thereby attracting more international buyers to Sri Lanka and facilitating a level playing field among the different segments of the local gem and jewelry industry.

In an attempt to add more versatility and range, the FACETS organizing committee decided on two new features for the exhibitions’ profile.

The Gem and Jewelry Mart serves the purpose of focusing the spotlight on small and medium jewelry enterprises.

Twenty exhibitors will be accommodated at the new wing of this show and will have the opportunity to showcase their products in an area that has been designed with the aesthetics, new trends and objective of drawing in more crowds.

Other unique features of this year’s event will be the Premier Jewelry Pavilion and Premier Gem Pavilion, which will display meticulously crafted fine collections of jewelry and showcase Sri Lanka’s vast variety of magnificent gemstones, the workmanship of the highly skilled local artisans and its unique and trendsetting international designs.

The main goal of the Premier Gem and Jewelry Pavilions is the targeting of premium high-profile local and international clientele. Located at the main lobby of the BMICH, the pavilions will display a tantalizing array of Sri Lanka’s finest jewelry masterpieces and exceptional designs promoting what the country has to offer to the world’s luxury markets, as well as a range of exclusive international high-end watch brands and a wide variety of precious and semi precious gemstones.

The show also features specialized exhibits by gem dealers, lapidarists, exporters, wholesalers, manufacturers and retailers as well as machinery, equipment, tools, laboratory and certification services and educational and training services.

The organizing committee has announced that over 200 local and foreign exhibitors will be showcasing their wares at the exhibition while the number of expected participants reaches a total of over 10,000.

Held under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena, who will grace the event, the exhibition is organized by the Sri Lanka Gem & Jewelry Association (SLGJA), the apex private sector organization representing the interests of all industry jointly with the government’s National Gem and Jewelry Authority (NGJA) and the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB).
