TIM AND SUZANNE FOSTER’s historic store, with its distinctive German clock hanging out front, was built in 1872, and taken over by the couple in 1982. With such a well-preserved premises, it was natural that the interior design should follow the lead of the outside, with wooden fittings and ceiling, and large windows at the front of the store to brighten up the space and let customers peer in at the range of designer jewelry, and salespeople look out at the bustle of village life as it passes by. The original building had one large structural beam running the length of the store. To add to the look, additional faux beams were added.
Our panel loved the warmth of the building enhanced by the wood and flowers within. “Lots of old-fashioned charm,” says Karen Karch, with Anne Sowden adding, “I love the warm woods and warm colored fabrics. I could snuggle up here for the winter.” Bob too liked the “strong interior presentation,” as Gwen Carrington praised T. Foster & Co.’s “open-door attitude.”
