GIA Teams with Alan Revere to Revamp Graduate Jeweler Program

(PRESS RELEASE) CARLSBAD, CA — GIA (Gemological Institute of America), the leader in gemological education, research and science-based gem identification and grading services, is revamping the GIA Graduate Jeweler program in collaboration with master goldsmith and award-winning jewelry designer Alan Revere. Learn more and be the first to know about program updates here.

A widely known and respected master goldsmith, Revere built an award-winning collection of designer jewelry in the 1980s and 1990s. A past president of the American Jewelry Design Council, he directed and taught at his school in San Francisco for 40 years, educating thousands of jewelers and designers on quality craftsmanship.

“The GIA team is delighted to welcome Mr. Revere’s expertise and experience to collaborate on the Graduate Jeweler program,” said Duncan Pay, GIA senior vice president of education and chief academic officer. “I can’t imagine a better alliance between the strongest players in contemporary American jewelry education.”

The revised GIA Graduate Jeweler program will integrate many of the successful aspects of Mr. Revere’s well-known Revere Academy of Jewelry Arts, focusing on bench skills as the foundation for preparing graduates to enter the jewelry industry. The program will be based on a series of projects designed to develop creativity and the application of traditional jewelry making skills.

GIA will announce program start dates for the revised Graduate Jeweler program in late 2023. More information will be available as details of the program are finalized.
