Judge the Jewels: Olivia Wilde Is Boho Chic in Floral Irene Neuwirth Earrings

The sighting: Actress Olivia Wilde attended the recent Baby2Baby Charity Gala in a sleek black ensemble consisting of a flowing skirt and a brief tube top. She finished her outfit with a flowing hairstyle and Irene Neuwirth earrings.

The jewels: Wilde is wearing Irene Neuwirth’s Golden Blossom earrings. Made from 18K yellow gold, these tulip-inspired earrings each feature a large bloom hanging flower-side down and accented with diamond pavé below the petals and on the ear hook.

This style is currently listed on the designer’s website for $13,920. If you click through to the listing, be sure to admire the texture of the gold petals. It’s beautiful.

The trends: Wilde is certainly nailing the understated red carpet jewelry trend (sigh) by wearing only one notable piece of jewelry.

This outfit – and the earrings – also have a strong summertime vibe that feels out of place in December, but it would be perfect for holiday season resort wear.

What do we think? These earrings are great! But it’s hard for me to say I like them with the outfit because the clothing portion of this outfit is so underwhelming to me. Yes, it’s fine, but there just isn’t really anything to it. These earrings look good with it because they’re good earrings and the dress doesn’t fight them for attention, but the same would be true if they were paired with any other understated neutral garment.

That said, Olivia Wilde wore this to attend a charity event where she was simply a guest. She wasn’t hosting or performing or accepting an award. She’s also going through a very public breakup, so maybe she wanted to fly under the radar. There was no reason for Wilde to go all out, so she didn’t.

These earrings are great for a casual formal appearance, which is exactly how they’re being worn here.

Judgement: 11/10 for fantastic earrings with an unremarkable outfit.
