Hate eBay? This Website Wants to Buy Your Secondhand Jewelry and Diamonds

Jewelry expert creates a digital portal that gives sellers options.

Jewelry industry veteran Chris Del Gatto “realized that the public was not being treated well when it came to the reselling of gems,” which motivated him to create an online jewelry buying service called DEL GATTO, writes Business Insider. The article says that jewelry sellers first send a photo via text or email, and the company’s gemologists provide an estimate within 24 hours. From there, the seller can either sell the piece directly to the company at a discount, or she/he can list the piece on the website’s marketplace “where you’re more likely to recoup a higher value on your jewel,” though the company takes a 15 percent commission on the sale.
