Jeweler Abducted and Robbed, Then Abandoned at Golf Course

A jeweler in Chicago was abducted and robbed, then abandoned at a golf course in his underwear, ABC 7 reports.

The man, age 72, was beaten during the incident, police said.

He had just parked near his apartment in the suburban village of Niles when he was attacked by three masked men wielding baseball bats, authorities said. CBS Chicago reports that he was hit in the head and thrown into a van.

It is believed that he was specifically chosen as a target. He had earlier been showing jewelry at a bar in the city of Des Plaines, ABC 7 reports.

WGN-TV reports that the man owns a suburban jewelry store.

The attackers took jewelry from the man, along with clothing and the keys to his business and home.

After he was found at the golf course at about 3 a.m. Saturday, the man was taken to a local hospital. CBS Chicago reports that he did not have any broken bones.

Police continue to investigate the crime.
