Jeweler: Famous Boxer Owes Me $1.4M

He was the world’s highest-paid athlete last year.

A jeweler in Las Vegas says former professional boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. purchased a necklace for $3 million — and didn’t finish paying for it.

The Jewelers Inc. filed a lawsuit claiming that it’s still owed $1.4 million for the piece, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports.

The company says Mayweather initially paid $1 million and then made several payments of $100,000 each for the piece, which has 72 diamonds.

But after that, Mayweather wouldn’t pay the rest, The Jewelers Inc. claims in the lawsuit.

Mayweather wouldn’t comment on the litigation, which was filed in Clark County District Court, the newspaper reports.

In 2015, Forbes ranked Mayweather as the world’s highest-paid athlete, with earnings of $300 million that year.
