Jeweler to Refund 17 Days of Purchases Following Football Promotion

A refund party is being planned.

Howie Knopf of Robrt Irwin Jeweler promised customers he’d refund their purchases if the University of Memphis pulled off a certain feat in its recent game against the University of Louisiana at Monroe.

The Memphis Commercial Appeal reports that the deal was this: If Memphis returned its opening kickoff of a half and scored a touchdown, he’d refund anyone who’d made a purchase between Aug. 14 and Aug. 30.

And it happened. Running back Tony Pollard “took the opening kickoff of the second half 99 yards for a touchdown,” according to the newspaper.

On Aug. 31, Robert Irwin Jeweler tweeted: “Go Tigers Go! Refund Party Baby!!”

Knopf said he has insurance for this. WMC Action News 5 reports that the refunds might total more than $100,000.
