Jewelers Mutual Showcases New Technologies During Intervision at JCK Las Vegas

(Press Release)
NEENAH, WI – Jewelers Mutual Insurance Company debuted three technologies during the Intervision Salon at Luxury, Elite Enclave, and throughout JCK Las Vegas from May 31 – June 6.

“We are honored to be participating in Intervision,” says Benjamin DeBoer, director of corporate development at Jewelers Mutual Insurance Company. “The new technologies we are debuting bridge the gap between digital and physical shopping experiences, providing a memorable experience for tech-savvy consumers.”

Jewelers Mutual has partnered with Excelion Partners to offer the new technologies: the JM Journey App, a holographic technology branded as Holojem, and the IoT (Internet of Things) Connected Display case.

“We are looking forward to engaging in conversations with the jewelry professionals, who recognize superb technology can delight, engage and reassure their valued customers. Developing interactive solutions is about making ideas a reality. We’re happy to have done this for not one, but three innovative products, that will enhance and protect the most important assets for the retail jeweler,” says Greg Oppermann, president of Excelion Partners.

JM Journey App

The JM Journey App (available for download in the Apple and Google Play app stores) is one of the first tangible mobile applications created specifically for the jewelry market. Leveraging beacon technology, it delivers an immersive customer experience at retail.

Luxury and JCK Las Vegas 2016 attendees who download the app will be encouraged to explore its features by participating in a scavenger hunt. Participants have an opportunity to win prizes with each “virtual diamond” found at specific locations tagged with beacons at the show. The more diamonds users collect, the more chances they have to win.

Holojem

Holojem, selected as a 2016 JCK Think Tank Finalist, is designed to enable jewelers to combine digital shopping and in-store experiences. Using 3D holographic projection, Holojem allows jewelers to share their designs with their customers who in turn can share them on their mobile devices and tablets. This approach aims to appeal to high-end consumers and millennials who expect personalized shopping and customized product offerings.

The IoT (Internet of Things) Connected Display Case

The Connected Display case, designed by Faubion Associates with additional access controls by DGA Security, includes a smash-resistant glass with an embedded vibration sensor. When the case is struck, the technology detects vibrations, providing digital security. Once the vibrations go above a certain level, notifications of incident type and time will be sent to staff, owners and authorities. With the increasing number of smash-and-grab crimes, this Connected Display case could help apprehend and deter criminals.

In addition to the display case, Jewelers Mutual and Excelion Partners have developed sensors that can be placed inconspicuously in any area which would benefit from protection. The sensors act as digital security guards, detecting patterns in movement, light, weight, temperature, humidity and pressure, and initiating a desired response with video and audio capture. Jewelers can also use these sensors to monitor the number of items taken out of the display case at the same time or the required items needed to put in the safe at night. The Connected Display case and sensors aim to keep confidence up and risk of loss down.
